Esmeraldas is a natural paradise on the pacific coast in Ecuador. After the construction of a large oil refinery the idyllic town grew to large seaport in which diesel is readily available but not water. During extrem water shortages music turns into the elixir for life. In 2015 the regional music was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. But what truly remains of the culture?
